Vostok Europe?

Vostok Europe?
Does anyone know if this brand is reputable? I really like both of these watches, but for some reason I feel they are overpriced, especially the Caspian Sea Monster.

i also like this Bulova, which for around a $100 less seems more attractive to me, even though its 2mm smaller and much more common. I need a brown, leather strap watch and so far, these two have been the only ones that have matched my criteria and price range.

What turned you off about it when you held it in person?

Re: Vostok Europe?
I had removed that, hahaha, because I didn't want to insult anyone that might own one.
Anyway, I don't know what turned me off except it just did not WOW me. It didn't feel like something that I would have worn very often, and sorta fashionista'ish.

Re: Vostok Europe?
Most Russia brands are imported by Russia2all.com and they are the distributors for any place you can purchase these watches in the US. VE and Aviator are overpriced and they were priced that way by Craig Hester. Some of those watches were $99-199 2 years ago and are now selling $199-399 now. RIP OFF for what you are getting, which is not pure Russian, rather Chinese cases, straps and crystals except for the movement. While I like both brands, the price gouging is a major put off for me.

Re: Vostok Europe?
I had a couple of VE in the past. One was a K3 diver with a 24** movement, their basic automatic movement and it was a put off for me. Although it was nicely decorated it wasn't very accurate and the date set feature was a pain in the ass. Ended up gifting it to someone.

Re: Vostok Europe?
I liked the aesthetic appearance of a few of the VEs I saw on ShopNBC, but they seemed overpriced for what they were, and there wasn't enough information out there with respect to the accuracy, movements used, etc.

Re: Vostok Europe?
Mine were slightly less accurate than my 7s26's which aren't known for accuracy. I got both of mine for around $100 new. I think at least one came from WoW but not sure.

Re: Vostok Europe?
IMHO Hester is no better that lumpy Lior and in fact, at least Lior keeps costs down for all brands he sells as opposed to jacking them up by 200-400 percent.

Re: Vostok Europe?
Thanks everyone for the very informative info and very hilarious post's hahaha
Gonna go with the Bulova, just because of all of the positive reviews I've read about it and the price is well withen my current budget.
If anyone has an alternative suggestion (brown, leather strap, $200-350, auto) please post, will greatly appreciate it, thanks.

Re: Vostok Europe?
I purchased two VEs from the Shop on different occasions. I sent both back. They seemed cheap, but it's just a matter of taste. I'm not interested in the brand any more.

Re: Vostok Europe?
VE? Even less authentic than a "Swiss Made" Invicta. Each one, however, named after some historic genuinely Russian something or another.

Re: Vostok Europe?
I would recommend orient. This watch right here can be had from them with a coupon code for $125 and its got a neat power reserve option. They are well made and much more accurate then they are rated for. To me they are one of the few watch brands I have come across that are realistic with the pricing. One cool thing about orient is the fact they make their own movements. Most models though dont hack nor can they be handwound. This is something I was able to overlook though I do like having those options.

Re: Vostok Europe?
I had a Vostok Europe about six years ago.
Eventually, I sold it off. The day/night indicator made me nuts - switched at 9 p.m. And the craftsmanship was decent but lower endish.
No real problems. Just got tired of TV watches and slowly began my migration back to more established brands.
I'd skip this brand.

Re: Vostok Europe?
i got the gaz limo model and its ok.I will not be buying anymore of them although.I am focusing on instead of buying 6 watches that are 300-500 bucks,I have decided to go with buying 2 800-1200 watches a year or 1 2k one.
I will not buy into any more deceptive marketing.which narrows my watch choices but overall it will improve my collection.
