Don't own a Rolex. But I do find it interesting that a company that makes rubber straps has a concept tab on their webpage. The "concept" is to charge people $200 bucks or more for a vulcanized rubber strap. Capitalism, got to love it.

I'm surprised by how good they look, but not surprised enough to pay $220 for a rubber strap for my sub.

I keep rubbers away from my Rolex in the hopes that it will reproduce.

The prices dont really surprise me. Now if this was a strap for a less expensive brand It would raise questions. The company probably feels that the majority of rolex buyers arent exactly worried about how much things cost. I know occasionally someone will buy a rolex who cant afford more then one but I think the majority of rolex owners are pretty well off. There is no denying though that its a very high price for something that can be cut out of the sole of my shoe.

Ugh...rubber on a Rolex? Rubber straps are totally Casio - and they are uncomfortable besides. There is nothing watch-related that can be finer than six ounces of stainless steel fastened with a deployment clasp around your wrist.

I only wear rubber or NATO. But those straps were rubbish for the price being asked.

The clasp on the Sea Dweller strap was stamped metal and they want $220?!?! LOL

I can get a couple of Isofranes or a bunch of Benetto Cinturni 317's for around the same price. What a joke

I'll stick with the bracelet on my Sub and put my 200 bucks elsewhere...cool concept though but overpriced IMHO...

My 16600 is on a BC now. Great strap, superb quality, very comfortable, feels durable, and kinda pricey at $50 or so. $220 is a joke.

It's a Bonetto Cinturini but I can't remember the number. This is the same company that supplies Isofrane, but at approximately half the price. The buckles aren't as nice as you get with the Isofrane.

1) I never said anything was wrong with Casio. I *did* say that rubber straps do not belong on a Rolex.

2) Some people like different things. I want a big hunk o' stainless steel with an automatic movement. Nice big solid steel brick watches turn me on. About that 'expendable fucking accessory', that would be your view - which I will be quick to point out is just as legitimate as mine.

3) About that Rolex photo - I dont care if you ooh and ahh or not. I posted it because I thought others might want to see it. Apparently not. The family heirloom part matters more to me than the Rolex part. Besides, I don't really like it that much - I only keep it for sentimental value.

4) Yeah, the rubber / plastic bands are uncomfortable to me. Others call them perfect. Opinion.

Rubber on a Rolex? Unfortunately, that's a decision that I will never have to ponder.

I like the look of a Sub on a black strap, rubber (flat, not vented) or otherwise, including Zulu straps. 200 bucks is too much, though.

If I had a Sub, I would certainly make the occasional strap/bracelet swap. Same as I do on my current watches.

"Homages" are basically replicas without ripping off the actual logo of the real watch; stolen designs, made by lesser companies that can't design their own watches and worn by poseurs hoping to confuse unsuspecting non-wis into thinking they spent real money for something nice.

If you can't afford a real Rolex, no biggie, but why don't you invest your money in something affordable that isn't a ripped-off design?

I think homages are weak.

There are no such things as homages IMO. They are all rip-offs.

I get being inspired by an awesome design and taking it further. But just rebadging someone elses work is theft.
