I see Deep Blue on this list. LOL
For me, watch with a foreign-made (Swiss, Chinese Japanese) movement doesn't qualify as an American watch.
It may be "American Assembled" but not American Made in my book.
For example, I still consider Harley Davidson's with Asian parts American Made because the engines (thank you Tim Temple) are U.S. products.

As much as I love my d. freemont, it's actually made in Switzerland for him by, I think, Davosa. Dave McCready designs them and does final timing and adjusting when they arrive from Europe. He also does his own service on them.

Aside from RGM ... nothing else is made in America today, some like Thomas Gref, can claim a good portion of American heritage in their watches , some like Kobold, Lum-Tec or Red Sea are just an overpriced joke.....

Agree that RGM is truly made in America. However if you use the Swiss approach (Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry ), then where a watch is encased and adjusted would seem to be the country of origin assuming the majority of its parts come from there also. Naturally, the issue becomes what happens when there is no single country of origin for the majority of the parts? Anyone outside of Switzerland using a Swiss movement may well have over 50% of the parts value, but still can't be called Swiss Made (according to the Swiss) if it is encased elsewhere.

I'd go with with "Assembled in XXX" but is there really any consensus on marking? Beyond "Swiss Movement", etc.

I agree with those who would ask if your watch is "Swiss Made", what is the address of your factory in Switzerland?

Cheers

I believe Montana Watch and their quartz subsidiary Rocky Mt. Watch are cased in the US and are more American than most on that list.

I know. What I don't know is whether you mean you agree it's north american or not?

I was reading this as an 'American Made' thread. I checked my Atlas and apparently Canada is still north of us so disregard my reply. I have two Marathons, one of them the Maple Leaf, and they are great watches.

I own two, as well. The one the army gave me is still a favourite but the (purchased) gsar is not terribly impressive. Can't have everything.

Best,

I believe RGM to be the only brand here that has attempted an American, manufacture movement.

In my book, the companies above are North American, but only the RGM is American Made. (And only some of them.)

A quick look at their website speaks of a third in-house movement. Damn impressive, actually. I wish I could say the same of the watch company here.
