Re: My Sub & Why I Sold It
always a good reason to do sell it off. But isn't the car too big for your wrist?
I just gave my grandson an Acura coupe for his birthday.

You should have kept the Rolex. She would have appreciated the car more if she had worked and paid for it.

Yeah you're right - she worked her ass off for three years at Columbia and held a job at the same time. Fucking kids these days.

Re: My Sub & Why I Sold It
I'd have given her the Sub and a pair of roller skates. The Sub will increase in value and the car will depreciate. Skates will help her live longer with cardio-vascular excerise, stay in shape to attract a highly successful mate, etc. It's a win while keeping a wonderful watch in the family.

I enjoyed that original post. Tell you what - that's about as cool a thing to do for an offspring as anything I've ever seen. Well done.

Very cool story, her smile says it all !!
As for some comments here, am certain some time in your life you were gifted something. Perhaps before you judge the recipients level of appreciation and significance you look at yourself... or at least know the full story before you share your "wisdom"

Seriously, that 10,000-watt smile is worth more than a thousand platinum Rolexes. You can buy, sell and trade hundreds of watches, but a child with that kind of talent & success? No comparison. At the risk of sounding patronizing, you done good, sir...

Re: My Sub & Why I Sold It
I bought both my kids cars so they wouldn't have to worrying about working for a car.I workrd a day job and owned a cleaning company .When both my kids hit the 6th grade they went to work for me their father. My wife told me I was too hard on them with my expectations and I told her if the job wasn't done right no cash for me.
Both kids worked 7 years with me and when they got out in the real world they saw why I taught them the way I did ! I don't want to burst your bubble the car is cheap wait until college tution bills start coming in!

Can I be your grandson? Will the fact that I'm 61 be a problem?

Who's this "conjurer" you speak of? I have a doberman pinscher named conjurer but he can't type.

Re: My Sub & Why I Sold It
So she got a degree, worked at a coffee shop part time and you think she deserves a new car? How about she take a loan out like every other working stiff, pays it off with her own money and learns the value of a fucking dollar? Something they obviously don't teach in school anymore.
Not serious, I just felt like ranting. Nice gift Don, I'm sure she will repay you 10x when your old ass needs a weekly supply of depends.

Modifying my post considerably you jack off!! I will say this - in 4 years of high school and 4 years of college, this young woman never once asked me for anything - not a car, not a penney.
