My Grandfather's IWC Empty My Grandfather's IWC

Here at long last are a few photos of the watch I inherited from my grandfather:

My Grandfather's IWC Photobucket-6068-1328638957077
It is an IWC he purchased (according to IWC records) in 1925. At this time it is in perfect working condition and keeps good time.

His initials, engraved by the jeweler from whom he purchased the watch. I never had the pleasure of meeting him as he died when I was a baby.

The inside of the case, IWC logo and motto and 14K gold stamp. More difficult to see are the jewelers marks when maintenance was performed, but there are quite a few along the outer rim of the inside of the case.

The base metal innermost case, stamped International Watch Company, Schaffhausen. Everything is original IWC and matching, something that caught me by surprise as I learned more about how most men bought a movement first then cased it.

The movement. The small IWC 'Probus Scafusia' is visible. Again, everything working perfectly and when I keep it wound it keeps very good time. I am planning a trip to IWC in NYC to have it serviced and lubricated. Otherwise, I will not have it restored in any way. Thank you for reading.

Beautiful watch, Anthony! Like Alain said, something to be treasured but future generations.

Do yourself a favor, though, and stop winding it until you get it serviced. If the oils have dried up, it can lead to damage and wear, and increase the service costs down the line.

Thank you gentlemen. Conjurer, I will stop winding it as I did not know that.
I mentioned in my introduction, but forgot to add to this thread, that this watch spent several decades sewn into a pillow because my grandparents refused to let it fall into the hands of Soviet Union soldiers who were pilfering everything else.
