I am familiar with Chaika watches, but I am not sure if you are referring to a specific model/watch (enamel), or the brand as a whole.

Sorry, I should have stated the brand as a whole. I had read somewhere that they specialize in watches for women and that they are very ornate.

and welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I suppose the brand did cater more toward women, as the brand is named in honor of Valentina Tereshkova (The first woman in space), whose nickname was Chaika (Seagull). There were some Chaika that were targeted towards men, using larger case sizes. But even in those watches, the movements were the same diminutive calibers used in women's watches, except for the auto movement.

Ah! I remember her. It was stunning and unheard of in the US for a woman to fly let alone fly into space. It was quite an accomplishment. I don't recall if she is still alive but she was a hero to many as an example to woman around the world. I cannot even imagine the steel nerves it took to sit on top of a live bomb so to speak. The Russians used a different fuel than the US which was more unstable if my memory is correct.

well, I am glad there are those with that knowlege who can educate the rest of us about watches I think are under-rated by many hung up on the Swiss Made idea
