iTunes Price is $8.99

I just downloaded it.
I'll update this post with results, and iPhone screenshots of the results.

Using the factory fresh, never before used, stock iPhone headset with built in microphone.

My results are less than sparkling!

I tried this on 7 different watches
-Accutron (2824)(the app varies from -5 to +25 sec per day)
-Hamilton (2894)(the app varies from -5 to +25 sec per day)
-2)Grand Divers (Miyota)(the app couldn't read these at all)
-Rotary Mechanical (the app varies from -5 to +25 sec per day)
-SAN4 (SW200)(the app varies from -5 to +25 sec per day)
-Seiko Monster (the app varies from -5 to +25 sec per day)

This app is just out of BETA on 10-14-2010, but I think it still needs alot of work.
For $8.99, you would think that at least it would be functional.

Hopefully, he will tweak the app and make it functional.

It does show promise.
The app would automatically recognize the frequency of all of the watches that I tested (28,000 bph, 21,600 bph, etc...)

I played with this for a couple of hours last night, and will continue to try to tweak the app on my side, there is a microphone amplitude adjustment that maybe I can hone in on a perfect setting.

NOTE: I used two methods.
Method 1 was to place the watch on a blanket (per developer's recommendation), to amplify the sound.

Method 2, I had better luck, using a Bulova watch box, strapping the watch to the pillow and sliding the microphone between the watch and the pillow for a firm grasp of the mic.
Then I closed the lid on the watch box, and made the whole room as quiet as possible.

Let me know if you have success, and what microphone you used.

What happened to going to places like this to test accuracy?

Agreed..

Now, if trying to regulate a watch in an afternoon or hours instead of days of tweaking and waiting, I can see a benefit. Especially if it works at a price of under ten bucks versus a 300 buck or more timing machine. Then again, for me, if it worked I'd have to buy an iPhone to be able to get and use the app. I might be better off buying the 300 buck timing machine, I guess. I have no idea what an iPhone costs. Plus with a timing machine I could check the beat error.

Hell, I can check accuracy with the phone I have (which I hate by the way Laughing ).

I use a free atomic clock app, but had heard this one wasn't ready for prime time...

The Rolex place had a very big device that amplified the ticking (quite audible), and had the digital readout of amplitude.

The readout at the store didn't match what I have experienced with my submariner, so I'll stick with the atomic clock...
