Boutique/micro watch makers
I consider companies like Renato to be fashion and boutique watch companies. Nothing wrong with that but given the economy and so many of these companies spring up, how many will be left staning in 2 years?
Some companies below make the same things with a few variations. Will they survive and if so, why?
Orsa Watch Co.
Dievas Watch Co.
Kazimon Zeitmessinstrumente
DeBaufre' Watch Co.
Boschett Timepieces
Benarus Taucheruhren
BaliHa'i Project
Serket Watch Co.
Irreantum Watch Co.
DWATCH
OCEAN7
ZIXEN
HALIOS
SONBOL
DEEPBLUE
well you get the drift...... Any others that you think might go away?

Re: Boutique/micro watch makers
No idea who will make it. In a lot of ways, I think some of the micro brands are better suited to ride out the economic downturn than some of the established companies. I read an article on EuropaStar which contained an informal poll of watchmakers at Basel 2009. The concensus of watch industry insiders then was that as many as half of the roughly 600 exhibitors at Basel 2009 may not be aroud by 2010. Don't know how that worked out in the end but the point is, the watch business is down on all fronts. I own watches by four of the companies you named. Halios is coming out with a new model currently, their first model, the Holotype was sold out. Benarus has several models out now, I don't know how the WorldDiver model is doing but the most
expensive of their current models, Megalodon, is sold out. They have a sold out waiting list for the Megalodon 2 also. Boschett has a couple models out, but I get the feeling sales are slow, but have'nt really been following it. I could be wrong, but I believe at least some of the companies on your list are a sideline business for the owner and not necessarily their sole livelihood. If they don't overextend themselves and get stuck with a lot of inventory, they will likely survive. I think small business owners have more control over their costs than larger companies.
