Daughter's watch

Picked this up as a Christmas gift (one of many) for my daughter. She loves it and in fact I wish it was 45mm then I would wear it. Very cool looking dial and I love the color of it.

very nice Mark. I remember seeing these on Sale the other day for a great price. As you stated, sadly it's only 38mm case size if I remember correctly. 43mm would be great as well.

There is a black on on sale today at ewatches for like 55 or so. I may pick it up for her since she loves automatics and would love another one.

Very nice, have looked at that a few times and also wished it was larger. Really like the khaki monotone look and I bet that strap is comfy

I like it! Can't wait till my daughter is old enough to appreciate a nice watch. Right now she is sporting a digital Dora the Explorer....

I have that watch in blue and there's nothing wrong with the size,as a matter of fact the size fits that vintage dial perfectly.

38mm is pretty damn small to me, always was. That's why my Datejust gets little wrist time. 43mm is about prefect for me, won't go above 47mm anymore. No WG mentaility here, just stating personal preferences otherwise I'd have one of these Military looking Seiko's.

Must have to do with how long people have been into watches. I remember only a few years ago when 38mm was considered normal. I guess those that are recent to collecting are so used to oversized watches that they have a different reference point.
Only 6 years or so ago I bought a 44mm Glycine and it was HUGE!!

I'll agree with that. I've only been into this for about 3 years or so, so I'm still a Noob. (hence the name). Doesn't mean I still don't apprecaite the fine worksmanship that goes into a classy vintage Hammy, Omega, Seiko, etc.

Sorry but I was wearing a 42mm Hamilton 5 years ago, a 41mm Citizen in 2000 and a 42mm G-shock in 1990 so the 38mm size of a watch is small for a man since I have been collecting and frankly it looks fucking stupid on a mans wrist.. unless his wrist is 6" with a 5'5 frame. LOL


And just because 38mm was HUGE for a watch in 1940 and average size in 1970 does not make it acceptable today (for a man). Maybe you forgot a watch IS a fashion piece and as with any fashion style (in this case case size) there is an era for it and 2010+ is not for it.

PS.. The case size of this Seiko is 37mm not 38mm

G-shocks have nearly always been freakishly big. Part of the allure. 38 mm was average right through the 90's and still is for a majority of WIS.

I guess all those Rolexes ,Pateks, Blancpains and watches over 10 years old should be trashed or sent the nursing homes where the few left who can appreciate them can wear them without being labled as "behind the times"


Red noses and orange wigs are also "fashion items".

And I still contend that the watch on the right looks better,more fashionable and more manly than the stupidly big coaster on the left.

I got the matt green face for my 9 year old son - he loves it.

No-it's a 1962 Hamilton. I do have a similar Accutron from 1973 but that one also is girly man sized.

gotcha....i just picked up a bulova from 1961, self winding in an antique shop....with the same dial. shook it twice and off she went.....

That's the NEW combat, desert storm edition. Wish it came in 75mm.

I like those seiko 5's , but they are kind of small. but then again alot of my watches are older and about the same size and I do were them from time to time. but I am waiting for those fashion trends to come back so I can dig out my powder blue leisure suit and my blue patent leather platform shoes...cant wait!

don't forget the beegee's vinyl.........
