Service experience from Miami

Post by iwasbanned on Fri Feb 11, 2011 7:22 pm

So sometime last year I was annoyed that my PO was running on the edge of -4s/d no matter what I did. I decided to send it in for regulation. I read online and saw La Grange was a decent center. Sent the watch in, about 3 weeks later I had my watch back. Nothing special, wrapped in bubble wrap, no blue dot, nothing.

When I got it back it was running +3s/day which I liked. I had it for a month or two then noticed my watch stopped a couple of times. It stopped on my winder and overnight on my night stand. I started reading online and read there were issues with over lubrication and possible problems with the 2500 movement.

So I looked into sending it back, hoping that the intermittent issue which I only saw twice in my ownership of the watch would be able to be diagnosed. I called La Grange and they said they were no longer handling warranty service for Omega. So I read and asked around and finally settled on Miami. Sent my watch in on January 14th. January 25th I got a nice letter stating watch was not performing to Omega specifications and that they would perform a full movement service under warranty.

On February 7th I received my watch in a nice Omega branded case.

It also had the blue dot I've always heard of. So far on the wrist and watch winder its running at under +1s/day or +4s in 5 days. Those are some NYCruza like numbers. It is better than what the paper says, which tells me... well I don't know what it tells me exactly, but if I think hard enough I could probably figure it out.

To summarize I'm pretty darn happy about it. And as for truth in advertisement, the case did have a little sticker that said "Made in China"

Congrats on a successful encounter!
I got one of those red cases too-I use it to store extra straps!
I got the blue dot too!

I love the PO. Wish Mrs. B would let me wear hers.
Thanks for the service center heads up.
Omega usually rocks

How much did they charge you or was the regulation covered under warranty?

Wait... What? You mean you didn't have to cut a check for $28 in order to get warranty service??? How can this be?

That's great to hear. I have one of my Hamiltons in Miami for service. You set my mind at ease.
