Dress, sport, automatic?

I would look into:
Frederique Constant
Hamilton
Bulova/Accutron
MontBlanc
(possibly Omega, never priced the lower end women's Omegas so don't know if you can get away with one for $1500

I would throw Tag and Technomarine into the mix as well.

Nurses are hell on watches, banging them into stretchers, IV poles etc. Working in the medical field also means constant hand washing and alcohol based hand sanitizers. You would want to steer away from leather straps. I would look into ceramic watches for better longevity, but I don't know of any in the 32mm range.

I'm looking for myself in the same price range. I'm completely stumped as to what to get. I am fine with 32-39 mm (give or take).

I like the Bedat No. 7. I'm trying hard to find one in my price range from a trusted seller.
