Panatime has been sold!
I have never bought anything from them because I am not much on wearing straps.
From what I understand it is to fund deep blue.

My thoughts exactly, I have never heard or read of anyone not satisfied with Panatime.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
Panatime Sold? That explains a couple of things to me.
The new owners lack of caring is a far cry from my past experience of Excellence with Panatime. I really do love the new strap though. But, with the meager C/S from the new owners, and also receiving the wrong sized strap, this has deterred me from buying from, or recommending them ever again. I might give them another chance, but there are too many other great strap suppliers with great reviews.
- I bought a strap there a month ago. And in year's past, I would receive
prompt email confirmation that my order was received, when it was
shipped, and they even would include recent picture of the items that I
ordered in the email. But this time, I did receive a confirmation,
but the order never showed "shipped" so that I could track it...It just
showed that they received my order. I felt uneasy about this process,
but I received it in 6 days.
- The received strap was the wrong size.
In my email interaction, I received very underwhelming customer
service, where they offered me to return it, but could not guarantee
that they would have the correct size in stock. I ended up keeping it.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
After reading the above I am sure that my days of buying from Panatime are over. Global is OK but with a limited inventory compared to Panatime and I like WatchPrince but the shipping takes forever coast to coast.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
so whats your take on this for DB? are they in despersate need for capital to prepay suppliers because of the high demand resulting from their exposure on Shop or are they in the deep red?

I just bought a strap from Panatime and the whole transaction went fine. I also like Strapcode. They carry some nice stuff.

Wonder who bought them? I tried a whois and it came up with a listing from Sunnyvale, CA in 2005. Google the address listed and it comes up with a match for JeffersonPrep.com in Sunnyvale. Some PSAT/LSAT tutoring outfit. Someone here must have access to Lexis Nexis or another business search engine.

I believe that the Sunnyvale address is the people that registered the domain.
When I do a Whois for panatime.com, I see Sunnyvale for the Admin Contact as well, and using NumberGuru for the Admin Contact telephone number listed on the Whois, 510-595-2002, it shows domain owned by "INTERNET NAMES", a domain registration company (I believe).
The strap that I received last month had the "from field" listed as their Tuckahoe, NY address. That is the same address listed on their Facebook page. And using NumberGuru on their telephone number, 914-361-1722, it shows that it registered to "CENTURY SPECIAL" located in BRONXVILLE, NY.
I'm unable to find anything on listed on "CENTURY SPECIAL" via google though.
I'm out of ideas but will follow up if I come up with anything.

Is the company going away or chaging hands? If it's liquidated that really is a shame. Though I don't wear many straps, the majority of the ones I do wear came from Panatime.

I would think that with the recent expansion of different models that the sale was done to expand.

I'm betting on expanded production. Stan seems to have a good deal of business sense. I doubt he made this decision without having done his research over and over before taking such an important decision.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
Profit margin has to be way better with a $400 watch compared to a $25 strap.
Seems like a no-brainer.

I'm betting he sold Panatime to double-down on Deep Blue and exploit the bunny momentum and opportunity.
In truth, I actually have no idea.

Depends on volume of strap vs. watches. Perhaps, though,TV made the straps a burden in some way. Either way I doubt that the new owners will be able to provide the same level of service. That never seems to happen.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
All I can add is that, with Stan at the helm, Panatime was a long-time sponsor at BDWF; Stan used to link Deep Blue at the Panatime site. Some time ago, I think about three or four months, the link disappeared, and then the new owners--whoever they are--dropped the sponsorship deal with BDWF just recently.
As it happens, I ordered a 24mm rubbah strap from Panatime a couple of weeks ago, and got exactly what I ordered a few days later.

Stan would sell Panatime to fund DB?

Nope, not me. Is is that surprising that there are others out there that have not drunk the DB KoolAid and can see the problems of Stan and his watches?

Yan is from Singapore and I just reactivated her membership here. I have known her for years and she is the watch business herself. I purchased my Stadlin from her.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
He might have done just that, sell Pantine to fund DB. I just got the new watchtime and he has a full page ad in there advertising the depthmaster I think it is called. I would imagine that could not be cheap to do. He might be trying to go beyond shop.

That is not what my source told me. I was told it was a investor with indications of flipping in the future.

I placed an order this morning with Panatime and two hours later received an email with tracking number. Pretty damn good. I could care less who owns it now with that kind of turn around.

I've always had good service with Stan running it. Presumably, whomever bought it recognized the value of Panatimes good reputation and will work to maintain it. Panatime and WatchPrince are my main sources for watch straps/bands.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
I would think that with all those who are such vehement supporters of Stan and Deep Blue that one of you would have called him and asked him why he sold out but I guess ... well, maybe y'all are not actually that close to him for him to tell you or maybe it's like Eyal Lalo, Jim Skelton and Michael Davis at Watch Geeks. So many there think they are some close friend but in reality there $$$ is the only really true friend.
Panatime was sold because it no longer served the purpose for Stan, bottom line is ... SO WHAT, is this really all that much of an issue or topic?

If you recall, this is JTN's latest quest. So, understanding this notion, he has posted umpteen times regarding these POS Tee-vee watches. I don't care anymore. Tee-vee watch crap or Ron Poo-peal, it's all the same thing to me.fatman wrote:You posted twice on the subject shitbird.

Re: Panatime has been sold!
OTMF ... I have to ask just where in the hell do you come off in your mightier than though type style, it is so Jim Skeltonish and close to Michael Davisish type of being.
Now take your head out of your ass next time before jumping in to play like your something your not ... and get the entire story and situation before you open your mouth and let the stench of your own ass permeate the air around you.
Now if you think somebody is a troll just ignore them, if you think I am and don't like me just ignore me or stick that oversized ego swelled head of yours back into your ass where you can't bother to see the computer screen.
Koi has provided a great place but there are a few who try to act like Skelton and Davis but without the ban or the moderation power and instead try and bully everyone who they have some sort of there own mental problem with. Truly sad and a good indication of why you are not on some of the other moderated forums who will ban and moderate your trollish nasty ways.
