Re: How It's Made Cuckoo Clocks
Great clocks. Very neat movie. I picked up a nice Herman Herr clock about two years ago. It's not very accurate, but very fun.

Re: How It's Made Cuckoo Clocks
The fondue and bier chugging German clocks were pretty cool, would love to have something like that in my man cave (which is really just a fancy name for my garage) someday. I've always been fascinated by cuckoo's since seeing them on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood as a kid, over 20 something years later and I'm still enthralled by the site and sound of them. That must say alot about me, guess I'm just cuckoo for cuckoo clocks.

Re: How It's Made Cuckoo Clocks
I repaired and restored cuckoo clocks for about 15 years. The movements are very primative (remember they were first made by farmers killing time in the winter), but fun.
However, as my eyes grew worse my interest waned.
Ironically, I just sold my last book on repairs on eBay and swapped seven or eight unrepaired cuckoos (including a clock made around 1892) with a local clock for ONE working Howard Miller mechanical chiming wall clock (it's classic).
I have come to prefer chimes to cuckoos.
