Re: Strela!!!!!!
OK I'm not *at all* a dressier watch, leather strap kinda guy but holy freaking Toledo is that ever drop dead gorgeous. Off to so some research and no doubt find that I cannot afford it.

Re: Strela!!!!!!
A handsome watch, I know nothing of the brand or quality. Do let us know what you find out. Better yet, anyone with experience of the brand, tell us what you think of Strela.

Re: Strela!!!!!!
For export, here's a little history of watches in the Soviet space program.

And here's a link where I bought mine, which is the smaller (and cheaper) of the two sizes available. It's also closer to the original in that respect. Prices on these have been going up a lot in the last few years.

Re: Strela!!!!!!
Mark 1, the reissue is made by Poljot and has their hand-wind 3133 chrono movement. Check the link above for some history.

Re: Strela!!!!!!
Rahula - you got me. Never have heard of this brand. All Russian watches I've tried have had very shitty movements. Is this one different? I love the looks of it. It's a beautiful watch.
Congrats and wear it well.

Re: Strela!!!!!!
The Poljot 3133 is used in quite a few watches. Here is some info on it. If you Google Poljot 3133 you'll find a lot more.

+1. Most the Russki stuff is, quite honestly, little more than novelties of the bad old days of the Evil Empire. The Poljot 3133, which I think is a reworked Valjoux 7734 (the Commies bought the design and tooling from the Swiss) is a totally different animal. A very robust design, with an absurdly long power reserve, it's one of the very few Russian movements that is really world class.
Those goddamn pics are fucking super, too, Rahula. Well done indeed!

Re: Strela!!!!!!
Very nice watch and awesome pics. The white dial is incredible on that model. I have 2 with the 3133 mvt and haven't had any problems in the 3 years I've owned them. Accuracy on mine has been like a good Seiko but I have not had them regulated.

Re: Strela!!!!!!
Beautiful. Reminds me a lot of my GO, which as an East German company (GUB) was at one point part of the Soviet watch scene.
I've wondered for a while which Russian movements may be based on those old GUB designs.
Enjoy the Strela.

Re: Strela!!!!!!
I usually don't care for the Russian watches. This one is the exception, a beautiful time piece. Very classy and robust in it's design. Thanks for posting the beautiful photographs.
