Sweet 16
Had this one for several years but could never remember exactly when dad got it for me...I am horrible with my sense of time...last week, last years...I never know
Anyways, it was 16 years ago for this watch!! The gold plating has not held up all that great, but it has been worn in all kinds of situations.
The tritium paint no longer glows at all.
The sapphire crystal is perfect...and its not even FLAME FUSION!!!
It is roughly 40mm...maybe a hair smaller even...and you know what? It does look and wear nice once you get over the "Gotta have a giant platter for a watch" style of thinking.
And here we have a case of Swiss Made actually means Swiss Made, imagine that!!

That's a beautiful, timeless design. It looks fine as it is, but it wouldn't be much to get the plating redone and it would look like a brand new watch...
There's a reason why Rolex still offers the sub at 40mm, Oris' Artelier Commplication is 40.5mm and Breitling is offering 36mm again.
Won't it be fun for geeks with 300+ 50mm-65mm watches when anything larger than a 42mm is considered HUGE?
I'm a big guy and to me, my 47mm Oris is pushing things to the extreme. My favorite size for a big sport watch is 44mm and as Noob says, I'm a "Fatass" with an 8" wrist.
IMO, anything above 47mm is a novelty or fashion piece.

Re: Sweet 16
I do like the looks of that one. Question I have to anyone that can answer it is has anyone ever had a watch replated (I'm assuming it can be done) and if so is it very expensive?

Love it. Classic TAG, timeless design. Even better when it's a gift with memories. enjoy.

sixteen good years and another sixteen in good health, a watch with history is hard to beat, nice to know the Tags are so durable, as far a replating it i'm sure that could be done for a reasonable price, but why change the patina ?

Very cool..
40mm and under rocks!!
Contrary to what the gangsta wannabes say, of course.

Re: Sweet 16
Very nice watch,
I have a similar in all stainless (from June, 2008).
Yours has a lot more character to it though.
Thanx for sharing.
